Gab & Jam Episode 48 How much of a song should an artist be allowed to sample?

This episode piggybacks on Episode 45 Music of Today: Worse Than Ever? (https://youtu.be/FvB8G9ATj_A ) and episode 46 Steal my Stuff (https://youtu.be/O6ZIAuSbz7w ).

This episode harkens back to the golden age of rap—the early 90s—when rap producers created their songs from a collage of samples. Copyright enforcement has changed the way these types of songs are composed and they are less from samples and more from scratch than ever. What do you think: Should there be some new level of copyright use compensation based on the amount of a song is used and sampled? If not, how much of a song should an artist be allowed to sample?

Since we want this to be a discussion between you and us, we would love to hear your take on this topic. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
