Studying the Bible is a little bit like being a detective. We look at a passage as a whole. We consider the individual aspects. We compare the passage to its immediate and overall context. We make certain deductions based on our previous knowledge of relevant scriptures. We also can refer to secondary sources such as commentaries, books or sermons along with historical data. Godly men and women have been studying the Bible for centuries. The New Testament has been completed for over 2,000 years. There are certainly different interpretations of difficult passages but if it’s new it isn’t true and if it’s true it isn’t new. The plain things are the main things and the main things are the plain things.
