Genesis 1:26-31 (2/2/2020)

Two weeks ago we considered the Christian Worldview concerning human life. I ended that message with this statement. The bodily Incarnation, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus and the believer’s promised bodily transformation declare the sanctity of human life.
We are more than our body but we are not less than our body, Genesis 1:26-27.
We saw how the Gnostics in the 1st century taught a dualism between the body and the spirit. The material world including one’s body was evil. What one did with the body had no impact upon the spiritual. Scripture reveals that Adam and Eve were created in God’s image which included both body and soul. Materialism based upon the theory of evolution teaches that matter is without meaning or purpose. Evolution has taken hold because it claims to do away with the biblical God. If there is no God there is no universal morality, guilt or accountability.
Francis Schaeffer, “And our view of final reality—whether it is material-energy, shaped by impersonal chance, or the living God and Creator—will determine our position on every crucial issue we face today.”
