Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection occurred somewhere around A.D. 30. Paul wrote 1 Corinthians at A.D. 55. That is 25 years from the cross. The earliest source for Alexander’s death is 300 plus years later. Paul was writing to them what he had said to them when he first came to Corinth. Scholars put that at A.D. 51. Paul says that he gave them “which I also received.” When and from whom did Paul receive this message which is the heart of Christianity? All New Testament scholars both liberal and conservative agree that Paul received this material about A.D.35. Paul was saved in about A.D. 32. He says in Galatians 1:16-19 that he then went to Arabia for three years and then went to Jerusalem, A.D. 35. He was there for 15 days and met with James and Peter. Galatians 1:18, “Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter and remained with him fifteen days.” The word “see” is the Greek word historeesai. It means to interview so as to acquire truth. The book of Galatians is about defending the Gospel. Surely that is what they talked about.
