Prater has a long history in the gaming industry, most recently serving as senior vice president of marketing for Bally Technologies. He takes over AGEM at a crucial time in the group's history, as gaming expands throughout the world. AGEM is mainly a political organization, trying to influence the legalization of gaming in new jurisdictions and the transformation of regulations that will make it easier for its members to sell their products and services. He met with Global Gaming Business Publisher Roger Gros in Las Vegas in April.
