In this episode I speak with author of “The Standing Meditation” Nate Rifkin. Nate talks about his story of dropping out of college to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams. He shared how his life spiraled out of control and then he started drinking every day. He shares how he got a job as a sign spinner and how it started him on a spiritual path.  

Nate talks about the negative sides of the self-help industry. We talk about some of the ideas the self-help industry spreads that can cause a lot of anxiety and depression in people. Nate also talks about a healthy way to do goal setting. He talks about the importance of focusing on transforming yourself and that the end results will take care of themselves. 

Nate also spent a lot of time studying Taoism and shares some of the wisdom in their tradition. We talk about how meditation can help transform a person. He also talks about how Taoism views the energy that flows through our bodies and how to achieve harmony with nature.
