Matt Markiewicz, Managing Director of The Cannabis ETF, the first passively managed pure-play ETF solution for investing in cannabis is this week’s guest on The Green Rush.  







Launched by Matt earlier in 2019, The Cannabis ETF (NYSE: THCX) focuses only on companies in the legal marijuana, CBD and hemp industries. The fund is the first cannabis ETF which does not rely on tobacco stocks and differentiates itself from existing cannabis ETFs in the space by rebalancing on a monthly basis, making THCX the MOST market-sensitive / reactive cannabis ETF without the unpredictability of active management.







With cannabis earnings season upon us, we sat down with Matt to get his take on all things capital markets including his reactions post-earnings on major players like Tilray, Acreage Holdings and Canopy Growth, his process for analyzing cannabis stocks and whether he thinks investors should fear a cannabis “bubble”.

With 20 years of experience in finance, Matt Markiewicz is currently Managing Director at Innovation Shares LLC an exchange traded fund (ETF) company currently focused on thematic equity exposures, including recently-launched THCX, The Cannabis ETF. Prior to Innovation Shares he served as Director of Operations for Genuine Foods, an on-site food services startup that served meals for over 1000 school children in New York City. His previous 6 ½ years were spent at BlackRock as a Director in a sales and strategy role within the iShares business, the world’s largest manager of exchanged traded funds (ETFs). During his tenure at iShares, the firm launched over 150 funds as the as the industry’s global assets under management (AUM) grew from $711 billion at the end of 2008 to over $3 trillion by mid-2015.
