from 2020-08-19T03:00
Warning: This episode will discuss eating disorder experiences, treatment, and recovery.
On this episode of GTG the Podcast, Lara, Makena, and Mal learn from Ruthie Flynn, a master's student at the George Washington University studying medical anthropology. Ruthie talks about her research on eating disorder treatment and recovery as well as her thesis on the barriers to eating disorder treatment among veteran women. The group thinks critically about use of labels and the diagnostic system for eating disorders, the white-washing of ED research, and the language and words we use to describe fitness and exercise. Thank you to Ruthie for her amazing research and wisdom on these topics! You can follow her on instagram at @RuthieFlynnYoga or google her name to find her anthropology research!
