Welcome to another episode of Bad Ass Women from Art History.

As I explain in the intro this is another ~special episode~ deviating us once again from the Art History timeline. However, I strongly feel and I'm sure you would all agree this is the best possible deviation!

Why don't we know about the Harlem Renaissance? Some of us do, but most of us don't. This is a crucial point in African American history and Black culture particularly when it comes to the arts, creativity and cultural expression.

Black culture has influenced, shaped and profoundly influenced the world we know today (as is consistently underrepresented and under acknowledged), in literature, music, art, fashion and beyond. A lot of which has stemmed from the Harlem Renaissance a pivotal time in Black history.

So come hang out and learn something new!
