This week on the Help for Hip Dysplasia Podcast, we chat to Elaina Long, A personal trainer and yoga instructor with bi-lateral hip dysplasia. Her story involves Stem Cell therapy (BMAC injections), which we have yet to hear about on the show.

We talk about useful tips and tricks, and how experiences of various surgeries with differing levels of support, can impact your recovery, and we get inspired to create a directory of support in the UK to find all health practitioners and complimentary therapists with a good understanding of the condition to come forwards, to be easily found and accessed by those of us who could benefit - Is this you? Please get in contact @ Laura@helpforhipdysplasia.com

Elaina also emailed after the show with some additional tips:

1: Wear weight training gloves or padded cycling gloves with your crutches.

2: How booking a holiday on a caravan park, where everything was flat and easily accessible, was a huge relief after stitches were removed, with unlimited access to a pool.

3: Elaina was offered access (for an extra cost) of a Durolane injection, made up of hyaluronic acid, injected into the joint during surgery to increase the synovial fluid, reducing inflammation and recovery time. She reports that this was something she found valuable.
