When it comes to Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler, there are few individuals out there more knowledgeable than David Hakim. You could say that he was destined to be tied to the brands growing up, as his uncle owned a Chrysler / Plymouth dealership in Detroit in the early 1970s. Icons like Sox and Martin, and cars like the Mopar and Motown Missile, were commonplace to David. To add, he then cut his teeth on his first car, a 1971 383 powered, Plymouth Roadrunner.

On this episode of the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ Podcast, we sit down with David, a lifelong Motor City resident, as he takes us through the history of Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth in their heyday. We also talk about the history of Direct Connection, Dodge’s newly relaunched and iconic parts initiative, a hear a few amazing Detroit stories from back when muscle cars ruled the streets.
