Mini-Series: Men Supporting Women in STEM

Gender equality needs both genders to work together. I am grateful for the men who pushed me to pursue STEM and excel at STEM. From my father, my thesis professor, men who hired me, men who promoted me to my husband who supports all my career goals. There are some amazing men who are supporting and promoting girls to join STEM. I wanted to interview some of my favorite MEN IN STEM to learn about them and what they think both genders can do to effectively close the gender gap.

When I first started this podcast I was so surprised when Fanuel took the time to call me and guide me through the early days of HER STEM STORY. Since then he has supported me on every social media platforms. Today we are talking to Fanuel Mundi, Co-Founder and Co-Director, The Stem Advocacy Institute (SAI) and the Assistant Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University. Fanuel supports women in STEM efforts at Harvard by promoting diverse recruitment efforts for their PhD program. At SAI, Fanuel builds tools and collaborates with organizations supporting women in science. For example, Stories in Science is a tool we built that currently features many stories from women in STEM around the world. They are now working with teachers to include these stories in an effort to supplement classroom instruction. Let's talk to Fanuel to learn more about HIS STEM Story.
