The countdown continues toward the start of the Ohio high school football season. The only question is whether the season will start the week of Aug. 24.

Ohio High School Athletic Association senior director of communications Tim Stried joined the WCPO High School Insider to discuss the three contact sports (football, soccer, field hockey) that have not been approved for school versus school competition during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The OHSAA has anticipated a potential announcement about sports from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Stried said the athletics governing body continues to remain patient in order to have all fall sports compete.

With soccer and field hockey scheduled to start Aug. 21, the Ohio governor's office could make an announcement during Thursday's news conference. Or it could wait. Stay tuned.

Plus, you will hear a conversation with Ohio State junior quarterback Danny Vanatsky, a former Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy standout, about the Big Ten's decision to postpone the football season due to COVID-19.
