J. Dilla is one of the most influential, respected, revered, lauded, and talked about producers ever. Before Dilla most beats were either straight or swung, Dilla disabled the quantize function and played the beat himself which gave it a feel that it was off kilter. This is basically the season of Questlove how much I have spoke about him, but he has said that Dilla is the greatest drummer of all time. Sadly we lost the physical form of J. Dilla to complications with Lupus and a rare blood disorder. Dilla was a founding member of the Slumvillage,  the Soulquarians and the production group the Ummah. Dilla was truly one of a kind and his impact is felt and missed simultaneously. Check out this episode of hip hop history and check back next week as we dive into Donuts the album by Dilla. Thank you Dilla and thank you for listening to this episode of hip hop history please like, subscribe and leave a review where possible. Thank you and have a great day.
