The year was 2006 and there was nothing fun, cool, or sexy about it. Beloved icon Steve Irwin passed away, Vice President Dick Cheney shot his friend in the face, New Orleans was still recovering from Hurricane Katrina, and some thirsty bitch named Mike Jones (NOT THE RAPPER) emerged from the gutter to out megachurch superstar pastor, Ted Haggard for engaging in—get this—gay sex and drug use. So what does the church do? They strip Ted of his pastor powers (???) and condem him, his wife, and kids to the closest place to Hell on Earth: Scottsdale, Arizona. In The Trials of Ted Haggard, we watch Ted navigate his new life as a crestfallen religious leader who apparently has not one single dollar, no job prospects, no home, ugly kids, and a completely heterosexual marriage all because he lived his truth “L”ing a “B” the best way he knew how! Join us as we attempt to deliver some much needed justice to an undeserving, yet fully problematic pariah.
