After reading both Nehemiah and Ezra’s account of the returning Israelite captives, it is clear the purpose of the psalmists admonition is to bring into remembrance the reader to the goodness of YeHoVaH, when his status are kept and the repercussions of not doing so.
Asaph the seer (2Ch 29:30), has prophetically illustrated that in times past, because Israel would not hearken to the voice of YeHoVaH; and would none of him, they were subdued instead of their enemies, their adversaries ruled over them, and they paid tribute instead of tribute being paid unto them.
However, both Nehemiah and Ezra’s account, also demonstrates that when your heart turns towards the Most High, his covenant, and promises, which Asaph brings us into remembrance of, they comes to pass.
