S1E6 A Vision for Youth Ministry: “God’s Word Setting the Agenda”

http://youthandfamilyhub.org/podcasts/

From the Hub: For Youth & Family Ministry this is HubTalk a ministry based podcast that is based on conversations with those in children’s, youth, and family ministry. In this podcast, we will be tapping into the wisdom and experience of those who have a track record of faithful ministry to edify, encourage, and equip you where God has placed you in ministry.
In Season 1, Episode 6, we talked to Eric Bancroft who recently has transitioned to lead a church plant in Miami, Florida. Until recently Eric was the senior pastor at Castleview in Indianapolis, IN. Prior to his ministry at Castleview, Eric served on pastoral staff at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, CA as an associate pastor, specifically serving as the high school pastor. He also taught as an adjunct professor at The Master’s College. Eric has earned degrees from Trinity International University (B.A) and from The Master’s Seminary (M.Div). Eric is currently finishing his Doctorate of Ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Eric is passionate about seeing churches shaped by the gospel as informed by expository preaching. Such churches illustrate the power of the gospel by their love for one another and passionate pursuit for their surrounding neighbors. Eric has lived all over the United States. Eric and his wife, Danelle, have three sons: Isaac, David, and Jeremiah.
HubTalk is hosted by Jeremy Griswold and Kevin Hall. Jeremy is a creatively reliable system builder seeking to advance the gospel in every circumstance. He is the Director of Event Productions and Event Technology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as well as, the founder of The Mourning Soul and Big Bear Media. He blogs regularly about leadership, productivity, hospitality, and media at jeremygriswold.com. Kevin is the Director of Programming and The Hub: For Youth and Family Ministries at Crossings. He has been involved with and in youth and college ministry for over 25 years and just finished his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Southern Seminary.

The resource highlighted for this podcast is one we have highlighted before, but it is such a great and comprehensive book on a vision for youth ministry that we wanted to put it front of you once again. Gospel Centered Youth Ministry: A Practical Guide is edited by Cameron Cole and Jon Nielson and is a book that has been a great encouragement to this ministry. Amazon states of this book, “Youth ministry is an essential part of most evangelical churches. And yet, there is a surprising lack of resources written specifically for youth workers focused on viewing all aspects of youth ministry through a gospel-focused lens. Featuring contributions from a host of experienced youth workers from a wide variety of churches, this how-to manual offers guidance related to every facet of youth ministry, from planning short-term mission trips to working with parents. Theologically rooted yet eminently practical, this handbook will equip youth leaders to effectively shepherd the young people under their care—training them to live faithfully in their homes, churches, and schools.
