As one of the first career researchers into the video game culture, Dr. Kowert began her studies by looking at the perceived stereotypes of gamers at the time the MMO universe exploded with the arrival of World of Warcraft. Some of the questions she wanted to tackle included,  "Did the game create the socially awkward gamer stereotype that lived in the basement or did the new medium tap into something already there?" and "Do online skills translate into offline skills?" Drew and Chris also ask the good doctor to weigh in on the video game violence discussion in addition to her book, "A Parent's Guide to Video Games."
