Happy Wine Wednesday!  We are delighted to be joined this week by award-winning writer and producer, Rob Maylor.  Rob is a writer on the award-winning film Sprinter, which we discuss this week. We are so lucky to have him!

As always, we kick things off with a few things we liked and some Rona Recs.  Rob dropped some exciting news about the availability of Sprinter on Netflix in Canada and the Caribbean.  We also saluted the unforgettable Verzuz battle between Babyface and Teddy Riley. We raised our glasses and gave our heartfelt thanks to our lovely listeners in Philadelphia. Long live Comrade Gritty!

Next, we get into our topic of the week - Sprinter!  Sprinter is a heartfelt, wonderfully written film that provides invaluable insight into the ways in which immigration impacts families. Rob shares lots of wonderful insights, including his inspiration for the film and favorite scene to write. We also talk about the powerful portrayal of West Indian culture, as well as the brilliant use of Jamaica as a beautiful backdrop to the story. We celebrate the film for bucking tired tropes of plots driven by Black pain and death. We also get into memorable characters, such as Kerry and Germaine and close it out with a bit of thirst. It's a really fun time and we are so grateful to Rob for joining us.
