This week's theme: meaningful change

Are we more motivated to change by a deep pain point or a highly desired outcome?

Baumeister's research demonstrates that everything we do is motivated by our need to belong. So which is more powerful, the threat of not belonging or the need to deeply connect with others?

Perhaps this reveals why a campaign for change, focused on hearts and minds, is more sustainable. We are captivated by a need to change when it's relatable. Still, fear powerfully activates people, but with a short shelf life.

Today's tip: change is inevitable...meaningful and sustainable change requires a willingness to go beneath any move for change to access the pain and subsequent anger or emotion evoked.

The Hint for next week's episode: a fair reaction
