Today we’re talking about the "F" word: Fibroid. Most American women will develop these benign (non-cancerous) tumors that grow within or attached to the uterus or womb.  One study found that, by age 50, 70 percent of white women and 80 percent of African American women had fibroids. In many cases, they don’t cause significant symptoms, and many women may be unaware they have them.

Our guest today is well known by her twitter handle as “The Fibroid Lady”, but she also has distinguished academic medical credentials. Theresa Caridi, MD is an assistant professor in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
