As details are given in prophecy as the revelation God gave progressed over the time the Book was written, there was more clarity and understanding. How the Word of God was to be interpreted and understood did not change as God gave elaboration. The birth of Christ fulfilled many of the prophecies of Israel's and the world's Messiah with the rest of the prophecies yet unfulfilled will be when He returns. As the prophecies of His first coming were fulfilled literally, so too will be those of His second coming. Revelation of the character and essence of the Messiah was given alongside what He would do and provide for His people. His people in the Old Testament were identified as Jewish and with Judaism. What was revealed in the New Testament with His first coming was that He was to be the Savior of all people and those who received Him as their personal Savior by faith became one of His people.
