The Children of the Promise - a podcast by Gil Rugh

God made promises to the man Abraham and those who were in the direct line of descendants specified by God, those being his son Isaac, his son Jacob whose name was changed by God to Israel. The line of promise then went to Jacob's twelve sons who became the twelve tribes referred to as the nation of Israel. The line of promise while available to all of those physical descendants required of them and is only passed on to those who had the same faith as Abraham as had been elaborated by Paul in the section of his letter we call chapter four of Romans. As had been declared by God through the prophets of the Old Testament such as Jeremiah and Ezekiel, the Jews needed to have their sin removed and be given a new heart which is the work of the Holy Spirit of God as a provision of the New Covenant. That blessing of the New Covenant has been extended to the Church today by means of the Holy Spirit following the death, burial and resurrection of Israel's Messiah to those who have faith in Him as Savior and Lord. Faith too like Abraham that believes the word of God as given and by which God credits His righteousness. Those in the Church who are Gentiles do not become Jews. The Jews who become believers and members of the Church do not quit being Jews. God has distinct and unconditional promises to this specific nation, some fulfilled, some yet to be fulfilled when the nation turns to Him in faith receiving Jesus Christ as their Messiah.
