Sanctification is the present aspect of the package of salvation. This time of living out the new life given by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is to be a time of growing in likeness to Jesus Christ, godliness and will be happening through the word God by means of the power of the indwelling Spirit of God. As the Spirit is yielded to the believer will be living with a newness of life becoming more like the person God so created them to be and lessening in likeness to the old self who they were. Such is the certainty, hope, and joy for the believer who can leave the past behind as all things become new.
