The more openly and defiantly sin is practice and promoted the more pressure there is on the believer to not come under the influence and compromise as well as standing firm in the face of hostility and opposition. When the word of God is abandoned so goes the moral anchor that provides stability to a people, nation, or culture. Moral standards will ebb and flow, change and be changed to suit the preferences of those in positions of authority. The believer must know and grow in the knowledge of the word of God, keep it at the forefront of heart and mind, and pursue the life of holiness that is pleasing to God and best as His creature and His child. Sin bring judgment and the consequences are not in the control of the sinner but God who also is the one who has provided the only means of deliverance from the judgment to come and from the power of sin that has a death grip on the life. He calls out by His Spirit through His word that speaks of His Son, the Savior of the world. Those who will hear and heed will find Him as well as true and lasting hope and joy.
