Four all-time Fighting Illini greats on the court have also witnessed some of the best moments in Illinois basketball as television and radio analysts over the past 25 years. Doug Altenberger played from 1983-87 and spent 16 years covering the Fighting Illini on local television and just finished his third year as a radio analyst for the Fighting Illini Sports Network. Stephen Bardo played from 1987-90 and works as a Fox Sports television analyst after working as the Illini radio analyst from 2000-2005. Jerry Hester played from 1994-98 and worked as a radio analyst from 2005-17. Deon Thomas - the all-time leading scorer in program history and Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame inductee - played from 1991-94 and is the expert analyst for the Fighting Illini Sports Network crew.
