After rolling through the regular season unbeaten and capturing the ACC Championship, No. 1 Florida State faced off with 2nd ranked Auburn from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA on January 6, 2014 for the BCS National Championship Game.

A slow start found the Seminoles down to the Tigers 21-3 in the 2nd quarter, but FSU cut the lead to 21-10 at the half. Entering the final 15 minutes down just eight, 21-13, the 4th quarter would belong to the 'Noles.

Down 24-20 with 5 minutes remaining, Kermit Whitfield took an Auburn Tigers kickoff back 100-yards for a score to give FSU a 27-24 lead. The Tigers, however, would answer as Tre Mason scampered in from 37-yards to put Auburn up 31-27 with just 1:19 to play.

But in that final, memorable drive, Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston marched FSU down the field and found Kelvin Benjamin in the back of the end zone for a 2-yard score with 13 seconds left to give FSU a 34-31 advantage and ultimately its third national championship.
