No. 11 Florida State took the short trip south to Miami to take on 6th ranked Michigan in the 2016 Orange Bowl on December 30th, 2016.

FSU jumped out to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter and led at the half 20-6. The Wolverines, however, would respond in the second half.

Michigan cut the FSU lead down to 20-15 after three quarters and took their first lead of the game 30-27 with just 1:57 remaining. But Deondre Francois would march the 'Noles 4-plays and 34 yards as he found Nyquan Murray for a 12-yard strike with :36 left to put the Seminoles in front 33-32 (extra point was blocked and returned by the Wolverines for 2 points).

In those final 30 seconds, FSU defensive back Carlos Becker III intercepted Michigan QB Wilton Speight to preserve the one-point win. The victory capped off a 10-3 season and snapped a 2-game bowl skid for FSU.
