The defending national champion and 2nd ranked Florida State Seminoles welcomed in unbeaten and fifth-ranked Notre Dame to Tallahassee on October 18, 2014 for a prime time showdown at Doak Campbell Stadium.

FSU started slow and trailed Notre Dame 17-10 at halftime, but in the third quarter the 'Noles would gain control behind a pair of Rashad Greene and Karlos Williams touchdowns to tie things up at 24 with 15 minutes to play.

In the final quarter, Williams would again find the endzone with a 1-yard score with 7 minutes remaining to put the Seminoles in front 31-27. Then facing 4th and goal from the FSU 2-yard line, Notre Dame would commit a pass interference penalty, which would then result in an FSU interception on the next play on 4th and goal from the 18-yard line.

The win moved Florida State to 7-0 on the season and helped propel FSU into the first ever College Football Playoff in 2014.
