If science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are the keys to a bright future; some of our nation's teens are woefully behind the curve. In this segment we look at why some groups are profoundly underrepresented in STEM and what we can do about it.



Mary Kirchhoff is Director of the American Chemical Society Education Division, which serves learners and educators by building communities and providing effective chemistry education products, services, and information. Anthony Cody worked in the high poverty schools in Oakland for 24 years, 18 of them as a middle school science teacher.





Joel Barker began his work in 1975 after spending a year on fellowship meeting and working with visionary thinkers in both North America and Europe. His book on paradigms, Future Edge, published in 1992, was listed as one of the most influential books of that year. Ugo Uche is a Licensed Professional Counselor working with juveniles with the Texas Youth Commission, and currently with In Balance Ranch Academy.
