For many cross-cultural workers, the language barrier is one of the biggest determinants of how they feel about their service.
While some people are naturals at acquiring new languages, for most of us it is a struggle and a humbling experience.
However, learning a new language is not merely a vital part of adjustment and gaining access to the host culture—it is an experience in which we learn to appreciate dependency on other people and on Jesus Christ.
