The buzz: “You can’t stop things like Bitcoin. It will be everywhere and the world will have to readjust” (John McAfee). Blockchain is all the buzz in the tech industry, with major corporations eyeing its disruptive potential. But you may still wonder what Blockchain is and how it works. Here goes: At its simplest, Blockchain is a distributed ledger that exists on multiple computers at the same time. It keeps records of digital transactions arranged in data batches called blocks. Each block contains the hash (digital fingerprint) of the transactions recorded on it, and the hash of a previous block, hence ‘Blockchain.’ Will Blockchain change the world as we know it? And how soon? The experts speak. Torsten Zube, SAP: “Stay hungry. Stay foolish” (Steve Jobs, 2005). Ben Boeser, SAP: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete” (R. Buckminster Fuller). Join us for Blockchain: Beyond the Hype.
