Speaking with an elite sportswoman, Jacqui and Ush find fascinating parallels to talk about. Jodie is originally from Toowoomba, Queensland and has spent a large part of her journey pursuing her elite sport playing goals and sport administration career. She was the Australian Women's Cricket Captain for five years from 2009-2014 and led the Australian Women's Cricket Team to double World Cup victories in 2012 in Sri Lanka and 2013 in India. She played elite cricket for 17 years and since her retirement in 2016 has continued her involvement in the game. She is passionate about advocating for the rise and elevation of women's sport more broadly and understands the importance of education and pursuing a balanced life for all athletes. In post playing roles, Jodie has contributed as a coach, player's union representative, selector, mentor and volunteer. Jodie has a passion for all things leadership and a central theme in her life has been the power to overcome adversity and keep moving forward with a positive mindset towards her goals and dreams. One of her greatest achievements was completing her University degrees in Human Movement Science and Master of Business Administration where she learnt and developed herself personally and professionally. Her passion is her family and helping others to achieve happiness and success that is unique to them.
