With almost four decades as financial lawyer and political activist, his roots began humbly working on behalf of farmworkers in the late 1970s for the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board. In 2009, he was the Commissioner of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, appointed by US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
