As the first Latin American woman to become a Division I commissioner, Nevarez is an integral leader in college athletics and is a member of many committees responsible for shaping NCAA policy. Under Nevarez’ leadership, the WCC became the first Division I conference to adopt a diversity hiring initiative, the groundbreaking “Russell Rule”. She has been tasked with redefining NCAA, as she is a member of the NCAA Constitution Committee.
