God spoke to Abraham in the desert.

God spoke to Jacob in the desert.

Joseph’s life was a desert

He spoke to Moses in the desert.

David was honed and shaped in the desert along with his mighty men

He spoke to Elijah in the desert. (Before 1 Kings 18 is 1 Kings 17)

He prepared John the Baptist in the wilderness

Even Jesus went into a desert and was tested before He began his public ministry.

The apostle Paul prepared in Arabia for 3 years after his conversion before he met with the. apostles. Galatians 1:10-20

Hebrews 11 which is the Hall of Faith. Almost every single character there are called, prepared and shaped by God in the scorching heat of the desert.

Why is Solomon not there? Why is King Saul not there? They did not go through the desert and they did not finish strong either. Their faith muscles were not built and the luxuries and comforts of being a king consumed them.

Know this, if you are finding yourself in the desert right now, it’s not a punishment - or a consequence of your bad actions - you did nothing wrong - but somehow the Lord allowed it - take heart - it means GOD WANTS YOU TO FINISH STRONG.

You have a calling and God is preparing you.

Psalm 63

A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

You, God, are my God,

earnestly I seek you;

I thirst for you,

my whole being longs for you,

in a dry and parched land

where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.

Because your love is better than life,

my lips will glorify you.

I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.

I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;

with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you;

I think of you through the watches of the night.

Because you are my help,

I sing in the shadow of your wings.

I cling to you;

your right hand upholds me.

Galatians 1

Paul Called and Prepared by God in Arabia

11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.

13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being. 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.

18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days. 19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie.
