One city has found a way to cut the call volume, while still helping those in need. In the 2019 fiscal year ended, the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to 1,468 calls from a limited number of callers. One person alone accounted for 144 responses from the department at a cost to the city of $18,720. In our podcast, we’ll talk more about the reasons people would call, including a particularly sad one where a woman prone to falling would wait for hours to call 911 so as not to, in her thoughts, inconvenience sleeping firefighters.
