In this episode, I will explain the difference between PCOS and PCOD symptoms, treatments, and more.

What is PCOD?
PCOD is Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease where polycystic itself means the presence of many cysts.
In general, a female ovary has many immature eggs that when turns into cysts will be called a PCOD condition.

Reasons:
There could be n number of reasons that could cause PCOD but  these are very common:
1. Eating junk food
2. Overweight
3. Stress etc.

Common Symptoms:
The very common symptom is getting irregular or unhealthy periods but other than this there are few more symptoms related to PCOD:
1. Abdominal weight gain
2. Infertility
3. Hair loss (in the male pattern)

What is PCOS?
PCOS means Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is a metabolic disorder and it is a more severe condition when compared with PCOD.
In PCOS, a female ovary produces a large number of male hormones due to which more follicular cysts occur in ovaries. All this will lead to the stopping of egg release on time due to which our periods stop/or gets very irregular.

Reasons:
Among various reason the common ones are:
1. Stress
2. Hormonal imbalance etc.

Symptoms:
1. Hair loss
2. Obesity
3. Infertility
4. More hair growth on the body
5. Acne etc.

What is the difference between PCOS & PCOD?
1. PCOD condition can be improved by adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes a good diet, exercise etc whereas PCOS is a metabolic disorder hence the tips or tricks that could work in case of PCOD may not work in the case of PCOS. So, in this case, doctor's recommendation is always important.
2. PCOD  is very common and almost every 3rd woman is suffering from this condition whereas PCOS is not that common.
3. If someone is suffering from PCOS then there are high chances that that person may also suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes etc. Though it is not true for PCOD.
4. In PCOD, the ovulation could be normal, periods could come regularly and fewer chances of infertility whereas it is totally reverse in case of PCOS.
