News Briefing: A portion of the 18-thousand-700 tons of urea imports expected from China that had been blocked by the state's tightened export restrictions has departed for South Korea. The government said two-thousand-700 tons of industrial urea left China's Qingdao port earlier in the day, in line with the outcome of a pan-government meeting on Wednesday.(Eunice Kim)



In-Depth News Analysis: As South Korea continues its efforts to resolve its shortage of urea water solution after China tightened exports of the substance last month, it has put a spotlight on South Korea’s growing dependency on imported products and the risks involved. Economics Professor Shin Se-don (???) from Sookmyung Women’s University joins us on the line to discuss the what led to South Korea’s current urea shortage crisis and what can be learned from the situation.
