President Trump’s asking a foreign leader for help in investigating a political rival has led to a decision made by Speaker Nancy Pelosi that she has long avoided.  She announced on Tuesday that the House will begin an impeachment inquiry into Trump’s actions.  Leslie Byrne, a former member of Congress from Virginia, talks about what it means for previously squeamish House Democrats.
Another decision that sent political shock waves is the one made by Rep. Joe Kennedy III.  He announced this week he will challenge Sen. Edward Markey in next year’s primary in Massachusetts.  The reason, says Boston Globe’s James Pindell, is not ideology; it is more ambition.  Kennedy is 38 and Markey is 73, and the congressman’s argument is that a generational change is needed.
And observers are waiting to see what Corey Lewandowski is going to do.  The former Trump campaign chair, who appeared before the House Judiciary Committee last week and basically stonewalled every question asked of him, is considering taking on New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D) next year.  Granite State political reporter Paul Steinhauser says if he does, he’s likely to have Trump’s support.
