Mentoring Monday:

The Leaders Accountability

Good men are bound by conscience and liberated by accountability.

Hebrews 13.17 Common English Bible

17 Rely on your leaders and defer to them, because they watch over your whole being as people who are going to be held responsible for you. They need to be able to do this with pleasure and not with complaints about you, because that wouldn’t help you.

Creating a culture of integrity and accountability … generates a respectful, enjoyable and life-giving setting in which to work.

Tom Hansen

Integrity -

the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.

the state of being whole and undivided.

Accountability. refers to an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one's actions. ...

When roles are clear and people are held accountable, work gets done efficiently and effectively. Furthermore, constructive change and learning are possible when accountability is the norm.

There are 4 pillars of accountability:

Responsibility: acting on your ability to respond to a committed course of action

Answerability: making yourself answerable for your decisions and actions

Trustworthiness: developing the character trait of being worthy of trust and confidence

Liability: binding yourself to your obligation

Without accountability we have anarchy.

Anarchy breeds dictatorship

Accountability continuum:

Where are you?

Blaming others/Personal Excuses/Always hoping it gets better

To

Acknowledge reality/ Own it/ and Find solutions.

When you blame others you give up your power to change and experience transformation.

Accountability is essential to personal growth as well as team and organizational growth.

How can you improve if you’re never wrong?

If you don’t face the reality of your own personal mistakes and failures and weaknesses and take responsibility for them, you’re bound to get stuck in your own ego and self-deception that you are fine when you’re not and everyone can see it.
