Why did I want to talk with Kelsie Igasan on the Knockin' Doorz Down podcast? I am your host Jason LaChance, and I spoke with Kelsie because she has been a personal inspiration, not only for her activism in the addiction recovery community but also for her vulnerability as a wife and mother. Leading by example to show her children that they need not carry any shame that surrounds addiction and mental health issues.

Kelsie was a nationally ranked all-star cheerleader and gymnast, now a recovering alcoholic/addict, suicide survivor, and mom of four. She educates communities on the dangers of trauma and its impact on mental health and addiction. She entered into recovery in 2006 at the age of sixteen; she is a trauma survivor who lived through teen incarceration, sexual assault, a traumatic brain injury both on and off the mat, mental health disorders, and in 2017 survived a suicide attempt in the thick of a relapse; leading to long term recovery.With over a decade of experience in recovery; Kelsie shares her story of trauma survival with the hopes of ending the mental health stigma while inspiring others to live unashamed with purpose.
