When teaching his disciples how to pray, Jesus said, “Pray this way…” What came next was five short verses that we pray every week in worship and countless people have memorized. The brevity and familiarity might lead us to think of the Lord’s Prayer as simple. But upon closer inspection, it is anything but simple. It is quite possibly the most powerful prayer we have ever prayed.

We have reached the part of the Lord’s Prayer where we begin to lift up our requests to God. It comes in the form of a request for daily bread - something so simple and generally plentiful for many of us. But as we have learned by now, the elements of the Lord’s Prayer may be simple, but they are packed with meaning.
