On LGHL’s Outside the Shoe podcast, we talk all things Ohio State athletics that happen outside the confines of the Horseshoe.
Ohio State tennis has dominated the Big Ten for the last two decades. Before the 2019-20 season was cut short, both the men’s and women’s squads appeared poised to make deep runs in the NCAA Tournament and, possibly, get over the proverbial hump to win their first NCAA titles in program history. Even after losing three of the nation’s top players, the men’s team reloaded with a top-three recruiting class to continue performing at a high level.
But with tennis being a sport controlled for years by schools like Stanford, USC and UCLA, how did a program like Ohio State get on the scene? And with the sport itself featuring such a competitive professional circuit, how have the Buckeyes continued to recruit such outstanding talent to stay at the top?
