Summary:

In Genesis 29 we have the record of how Jacob met and married his wives. The man who weaseled the birthright away from his brother and conned his father needed some serious schooling in the spiritual disciplines. This chapter is an OT illustration of a NT truth, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap” (Gal. 6:7). Jacob doesn’t know it, but class in is session. As he heads for Haran, he’s about to be enrolled in a 20-year program in the school of sowing and reaping.
