Dabstars was founded out of the medical movement in 2013 by Jonah Sanford, locally known as Jonah Tacoma. Recognizing that people that were gaining rock star status in the Washington cannabis scene, Jonah set to work creating a roadmap of the industry, a who’s who of cannabis. Today the company continues to maintain its core mantra, recognizing people, products, and businesses that have stood out in their niche of cannabis, taking home numerous awards. Beginning his business endeavors as an event producer and promoter, David built a name in the nightclub industry in Seattle beginning in 2004. Then, shortly before co-founding Dope Magazine in 2011, he co-founded the Seattle medical marijuana dispensary Conscious Care Cooperative. In 2018, David and Dope Media were acquired by Hightimes.
