This quarter the auditorium bible class over the next 13 weeks will look at the 150 Psalms. Today Roger looks at Psalms 29 & 32. 


 


Psalm 29: A Praise or Worship


  • Anthropomorphism = the attribution of a human characteristic or behavior to God

  • God has a voice, and it’s found elsewhere, especially in the Old Testament
    • Psalm 34:15 – eyes and ears of the Lord

    • Psalm 75:8 – hand of the Lord

    • Isaiah 41:10 – right hand of the Lord

    • Isaiah 51:9 – arm of the Lord



  • “Voice of the lord” – Did you see it repeated?


  • What makes His voice so noticeable and, thus, insisting on our keen attention?




  • Where do we hear His voice?




  • What word and what phrase are particularly descriptive of His voice?




  • What action words or phrases tell us what God does with His voice?




  • What should be man’s response to nonbelievers who assert we cannot” hear” God’s voice?

    What lessons can we find in Psalm 29?



    •  


      Praise God for who He is and what He has done for us.




    • Ascribe no strength or glory to other forces at work in the world.






Psalm 32: A Praise Psalm


  • Psalm 32 contains important elements of the gospel message. What element is found in verses 1-2?


  • Our transgressions are COVERED.




  • What are some of the New Testament passages that convey this?



    • Acts 2:38   Acts 3:19   Ephesians 1:7






  • What element of the gospel message is found in verses 3-5?




  • Transgressions must be CONFESSED.




  • What are some of the New Testament passages that convey this?

  • But there’s more: If we don’t do that, our transgressions are CONSUMING.

  • PRAYING helps avoid being consumed by sin

    • Confess, act suitably, experience the blessings.
