#Pride But Not Prejudice - a podcast by Liberate : My OCD Fighter

Every year in June, people around the world celebrate Pride month. But why? I mean, surely, LGBTQ+ people are already equal? That is the belief of many people but, unfortunately, the reality is far from that. 72 countries worldwide criminalize same-sex activity and in 12 of them, the death penalty is a real possibility. Pride is not a party, it never was. Yes, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community but we do so because of the adversaries the community faces. Pride was a riot, it was born when transgender women of colour fought back against police brutality and Queer suffering. It is important that we continue their legacy by continuing to fight against oppression and we should begin with understanding what it looks like.
