Lately, it seems like supernatural happenings are going on all around us from the stars aligning or dis-aligning to people acting strangely to weird dreams and even more bold experiences of the supernatural. However; did you know that there are several Bible verses that discuss similar supernatural events?
1. Exodus 7:10-12 - "So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs."
2. Matthew 14:25-27 - "Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. 'It’s a ghost,' they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: 'Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.'"
3. Acts 9:3-9 - "As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?' 'Who are you, Lord?' Saul asked. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' he replied. 'Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.' The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone."
4. Acts 16:25-26 - "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose."
5. Revelation 13:13-14 - "And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth."
These verses highlight various supernatural events such as the transformation of a staff into a snake, Jesus walking on water, the encounter of Paul and Silas with an earthquake, and miraculous signs in the book of Revelation. These events demonstrate the supernatural power of God and the extraordinary occurrences associated with His intervention.
Personally, my biggest question is in the ‘interpretation’ of each of these events within the Biblical canon as to ‘who or what’ is causing these things to happen.
Hint, I think there's a BIG difference in the modes and manifestations of these miraculous events!
