It’s been said that life imitates art, but sometimes art imitates life. And that’s exactly where we are going today on The Coming Out Lounge, to a place where art takes us into the provocative life of The Victorians.
Our guest, Dwight Gabbert, created this film as a bid to celebrate homosexuality and LGBT rights across the world, not just in Amsterdam. He’s taken a step into the stereotypical and non-stereotypical as he explores controversial topics such as gay fetish clubs, gay marriage and the “normal” journeys of struggling to come to terms with one’s own sexual preference.

About Dwight 
Dwight started his career in the early 90s working at Roger Corman Studios in Venice Beach where he learned to hone the craft of filmmaking. His directorial debut was in 2010 with the short film, I Love Nancy, an exploration into one man’s obsessive relationship with the plastic objects that consumed him. The film was accredited for being a hard-hitting existential look into the synthetic side of life that does us harm.

He and his wife, Laetitia, enjoy discerning the dark contradictions in humanity. This inspired them to create the characters of The Victorians which portray people living on the fringe of a society.
About The Victorians

The Victorians follows the fatal attractions of a pair of brothers. One is fighting his homosexuality and love for a sadist, the other succumbing to his love for a prostitute. Their moral battles act as the fuel for their thievery, leaving Amsterdam’s tourists dry in their path of self destruction.
We arrive with Joey, their naive American victim whose vulnerability leaves him prey to the sadist’s sexual games and introduces him to the Amsterdam underground.
It’s revenge, lust, addiction, and everything in between. It’s the royal rogues of Amsterdam.
